Research into current technological regimes of raw material heating in thawing sheds and issuing recommendations for optimizing their operation
Reducing natural gas consumption during railcar thawing and increasing the throughput of thawing sheds
RESULTS
Natural gas consumption reduction
Through the analysis of current heating regimes (temperature, duration, hot air flow distribution) and the identification of inefficient heat losses, optimization recommendations were developed. Implementing the proposed regimes allows for a 15–20% reduction in specific gas consumption per railcar without decreasing productivity.
System tested in a pilot section
Proposed technological and operational solutions underwent industrial trials in an active thawing shed. During the trials, the feasibility of achieving target parameters (temperature, holding time) with reduced gas consumption was confirmed.
Throughput increase
Optimizing thermal regimes and eliminating "dead zones" with uneven heating allowed for an average reduction in the thawing time per railcar by 20–30 minutes.
